Prosthetic dentistry is an area of dentistry which focuses on the replacement of lost dental tissues, entire teeth or groups of teeth. Currently, modern dentistry is becoming increasingly inclined towards the use of fixed aesthetic prostheses, which are now considered to be the best possible solution for the patient.
Ceramic facets, also known as veneers, are considered the best and most modern solution to aesthetic dental defects. The facets are very thin ceramic plates which are adhesively attached to the affected tooth.
One of the advantages of this treatment is that it does not require extensive tooth preparation (filing).
Aesthetic ceramic facets (veneers) are used in cases where the patient has:
- imperfectly shaped teeth,
- gaps between teeth,
- old, unattractive fillings,
- composite facets,
- teeth damaged by medications – tetracycline teeth (teeth with discolouration),
- tooth fractures,
- teeth severely damaged by decay.
